HAND-DYED FISHING DOWN VEST

We've updated an authentic '50s fishing vest with a down vest design. The mountain-shaped pockets on the front and back are separate storage spaces, offering a functional design that allows for categorized storage.

This season, we've taken on the challenge of product dyeing down coats, applying the techniques used for product-dyed down snoods and other items realized in the previous season. We've adopted the hand-dyeing bengara (iron oxide pigment) method for dyeing.
Craftsmen meticulously hand-dye each piece using pigments made from iron-rich soil sourced from Takahashi City, Okayama Prefecture. The outer fabric is a cotton-nylon blend, and the difference in dye absorption between the cotton and nylon results in a deep color and a textured finish with unevenness.
This is a meticulously crafted garment that allows you to enjoy the unique unevenness and profound texture characteristic of hand-dyeing.

Handling instructions for Bengara-dyed products

To enjoy the fading color for longer, we recommend hand washing with a neutral detergent.

Colors may transfer to other items, so wash separately.

Do not use fluorescent agents or bleach.

After washing, dry in the shade.

Colors may fade when exposed to citrus fruit juice. If this occurs, rinse immediately.

Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or lighting may cause discoloration. Do not leave in direct sunlight; store in a dark place.

As this dyeing technique extracts dye from minerals in the soil, the dye is similar to minerals and may react with metal detectors.

Since the dye is similar to pigment, color transfer may occur due to friction during wear or to innerwear and bags.
