HAND-DYED BOMBER JACKET

This BOMBER JACKET is individually hand-dyed by artisans using a bengala dyeing technique. The design is based on the 1960s-70s L2-B model without epaulets. Unlike the MA-1, it has no padding, but the wool side of the lining is brushed to ensure a moderate thickness. It features a sleek silhouette and can be worn for many seasons.

The lining uses our original rayon wool brushed-back fabric. The processing creates puckering from the differential shrinkage of the wool on the back, reproducing the vintage texture found in second-hand stores. Furthermore, it is reversible and includes hand-warmer pockets on the reverse side.

For dyeing, pigments made from oxidized iron in the soil, used as a by-product of copper mines in Takahashi City, Okayama Prefecture, are utilized. Artisans individually hand-dye each piece using the bengala dyeing process. Because the item combines various materials, reproducing the shrinkage rate and color penetration unique to product dyeing was challenging, requiring repeated trial and error to achieve completion. Please enjoy the uneven coloring and unique, profound texture characteristic of hand-dyeing.

Handling instructions for Bengala dyed products

To enjoy the color for longer, we recommend hand washing with a neutral detergent.

Please wash separately as the color may transfer to other items.

Do not use fluorescent agents or bleach.

After washing, please dry in the shade.

The color may fade if exposed to citrus juice. If it comes into contact, rinse immediately.

Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or lighting may cause discoloration. Do not leave in direct sunlight; store in a dark place.

As this dyeing technique extracts dye from minerals in the soil, the dye is similar to minerals and may react to metal detectors.

Due to the dye being similar to pigment, color transfer to innerwear or bags may occur due to friction during wear.
